Thanks to the Georgia Forestry Magazine for giving a voice to Xylochemistry.

The Georgia Forestry Association has given a voice to xylochemistry in their Summer 2024 issue of Georgia Forestry Magazine. An interesting article by John Casey. There's also an associated video featuring researchers in the area. Xylochemistry - adding value to Georgia Timber!

Wow, this is a pretty alarming article from the Rachel Carson Council . Is this really happening, and why would industry clear-cut for this purpose? Traditionally, forests in the Southeast have been very well managed and replanted to keep the lumber industry sustainable. Why not continue that ...

Thanks for the comment and question. The short answer is, yes. Actually, plastics from wood and other cellulose sources (cotton, and any biomass made of glucose units) have been around a very log time and played important roles in everything from food distribution to wearing apparel.
